OverviewThe quality of the skiing in Val d'Isère and the linked resort of Tignes is varied and demanding. Many international experts never ski anywhere else. As one reporter commented: "Anyone who claims to be bored with Espace Killy is either lying or certifiable". A vertical drop of 1,900m, coupled with 97 lifts, including two high-speed underground railways, seven gondolas and three cable-cars, form the hardcore infra- structure. For the expert, the real joy lies in the off-piste opportunities on the edge of the Vanoise National Park.
